Michael Opoku-Forfieh

Hello my name is Michael and I am an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist coach and clinical supervisor based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. +1-365-366-8892

I am a Professionally Approved counsellor with CCPA (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association) and an accredited member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am also a member of BAATN (Black and Asian Therapists Network).

I grew up in North London, England. My parent’s lives implicitly influenced me in becoming a counsellor. The unspoken secrets and traumas they suffered left hidden scars. As a Black male psychotherapist/coach I make use of my lived experience to inform how I support clients interpret and overcome their own challenges. As an integrative therapist I draw on a number of counselling approaches to inform and support the person(s) I am working with. Approaches include; Transpersonal, Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural, Psychodynamic, Solution Focused and E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement De-sensitisation Re-processing).

As a counsellor/psychotherapist I have supported people that are working through a number of difficulties including: Depression, Anxiety, Addictions, Relationship difficulties, Mood management including low mood, angry feelings, Self-esteem, Identity, Abuse and Trauma.
